    What is Silica Ramming Mass

    How to Make Silica Ramming Mass

    Silica ramming mass is generally rammed by pneumatic picks and also manually tamped. When ramming with pneumatic picks, the wind pressure cannot be lowered by 5 atmospheres. There are several shapes for the hammer head, such as square, rectangular and round. Its general size is between 50 and 80 mm. If the ruler is large, the ramming force is not enough and the compactness is poor, which will affect the performance of refractory silica ramming mass. If it is too small, excessive tamping force is not easy to tamping, which will affect the work efficiency silica ramming mass.

    Construction of Silica Ramming Mass

    • When ramming, the thickness of the material is 20 ~ 60 mm each time, the pneumatic picks should be perpendicular to the material surface, the hammer head should move continuously in one direction, and the hammer head should overlap one third to one half to avoid leakage. There must also be overlap between each row.
    • Tamp each layer of material for four or five times in a row, after reaching uniformity and compactness, the next layer of material can be laid. Roughen the ramming surface preferably before the material is spread, so that the upper and lower layers are tightly connected to prevent delamination.
    • Keep carrying out the ramming construction continuously. If the intermittent time is longer, the ramming surface should be tightly covered. When re-construction, the ramming surface should be shaved before ramming.
    • After ramming, remove the mold immediately for curing or baking. If it is ramming a prefabricated component or prefabricated block, it must reach the label required by the design before it can be handled.
